What about you ?
I started climbing at the age of 15. After a long time as a cross country skier, I finally found my sport. At the age of 16 I climbed for the first time an 8a route. From this point onwards I started to train seriously. As often as I can I climb multi-pitch routes. This gives me an even more intense experience than in a climbing garden. During the summer time I try to spend as much time as possible climbing on rock, while in winter I very much like climbing on ice. At the moment I concentrate on successfully climbing difficult routes (8b/8c) in the climbing garden, in order to take the newly gained experiences into alpine climbing. At the Speed Ice Climbing Festival in Pontresina we won two times in a row (2010 + 2011) the first prize. My new passion is sky diving. It is a wonderful change to the mountains. Both sports are so multifaceted. That’s why they give me satisfaction and happy feeling.
What about Julbo ?
One time in the very nice Rätikon we tried an impressive route called “Lilith”. The key rope-length is vertical, has very tiny holds and there was already quite a lot of air underneath my feet. I only concentrated on the next hold, the next footstep, the next bolt, to shift my weight. The sun was shining mercilessly on us. Concentration. The eyes cast downwards to find a better footstep, than up again. With the left I got hold of a sharp underhand grip. With the right I clipped the quickdraw into the bolt. Phuuu, I am getting closer to the shuts. But first I had to master a vertical and smooth ledge. I could not feel my arms anymore. The only thing that held me to the rock was my mind. My eyes were searching for the next right-hand hold, and at the same time for two footsteps for my feet. Found! And there is the shuts on eye-level. I finally made it. I was drenched in sweat but happy. With Julbo you get a clear view.
