Solar radiation is diffused in 3 ways:
• directly,
• in the atmosphere,
• or reflected by clouds, the earth and light-coloured surfaces.
Certain types of surface increase the risks:
• laboured soil reverberates 15%
• water 20%
• light-coloured sand 35%,
• snow 85%
The quantity of UVs perceived by the eye depends on the temperature, the composition of the atmosphere (pollution, ozone, etc.) and the distance from the Earth to the Sun.
The UV index increases by 10% every thousand metres
The drier and warmer the air, the more dangerous solar radiation is.
